On March 10, 2025, representatives from the Asian Management and Development Institute (AMDI) attended the year-end workshop for partners of the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), organized by the Embassy of Canada. AMDI presented on the CFLI-funded relief support for Cao Bang and Lao Cai provinces, implemented by AMDI, to overcome the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi.

AMDI representative shared the results of emergency relief project
In September 2024, the remnants of Typhoon Yagi (Typhoon No. 3) severely impacted northern provinces, especially mountainous areas: Prolonged rain and floods resulting in landslides, significant damage to homes and public infrastructure, dozens of deaths, injuries, and missing persons, and widespread flooding.
In response, through AMDI, CFLI promptly provided relief support to affected households. This included hundreds of supplies kits such as rice, cooking oil, and essential supplies, 100-liter water tanks, and disaster-related equipment like rescue boats and electric generators for local authorities for enhancing future disaster preparedness. The project received enthusiastic support and cooperation from local authorities and heartfelt appreciation from the people.

AMDI representative discussed proposals for CFLI support initiatives
In addition to presentations on CFLI-funded projects, delegates participated in thematic discussions to listen to and share experiences in improving approaches, project design and implementation, thus, developing recommendations for sustaining the interventions’ sustainability.
The workshop created an open space for CFLI partners to connect, share knowledge, experiences, and challenges, thereby collaboratively finding more innovative and effective solutions to deliver positive interventions for the community.
