On April 19, 2023, the Asian Management and Development Institute (AMDI), on behalf of the AMDI-GFA Consortium, successfully organized a workshop to conclude the Swiss Sustainable Tourism Program in Vietnam. Participating in the workshop was the presence of the donor, State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO); strategic partners, national and international experts who have accompanied the Project for the past 5 years.
During the 5 years of implementation, the Project has supported tourism companies and businesses to enhance their competitiveness by building tourism products with sustainable lable. Many green tourism initiatives have been supported by the project such as the model of community tourism in Tan Thanh Flea Market (Quang Nam), Go Noi Village (Quang Nam), Tam My Tay Village and Cham Island (Quang Nam), Hoi An Express Travel, the Responsible Travel Club of Vietnam (Hanoi), Footprint Travel (Hanoi), Ecohost (Nam Dinh).
The project has also supported human resource development through sustainable tourism training courses and provided a high-class hotel management training programs for nearly 700 staff from Universities and Tourism Associations of Can Tho, Vinh Long, Da Nang, Hanoi, of which, 65 are eligible to become trainers. In addition, the project also facilitates the integration of sustainable tourism practices in the context of provincial policy frameworks for Departments of Tourism and Tourism Associations of Can Tho, Vinh Long, Quang Nam and Ninh Binh provinces to create an environment that makes Vietnam tourism more sustainable and competitive.
Donor's representative highly appreciated the contributions of the Consulting Consortium as well as the experts during the past 5 years, which have helped improve the competitiveness of Vietnam tourism in general and members of Tourism Associations of Can Tho, Quang Nam, Vinh Long and Ninh Binh in particular. The project models implemented in the localities can completely be replicated to other localities with the same situations.
Thanks to success of the Swiss Sustainable Tourism Program, AMDI has contributed to promotion of the sustainable tourism in Vietnam and becomes a reliable organization for donors as well as local and international partners.
