The Joint Venture of Asian Institute of Management and Development (AMDI), the GFA (Germany) and the IMI (Sweden) have been selected by the Swiss Federal Institute for Economic Affairs (SECO) in Vietnam as the implementing unit for this project. The contract will be implemented in four years from 2018 to 2022, with a total contract value of CHF 3.7 million.

In the context of Vietnam's tourism industry facing many challenges such as poor service quality, poor tourism products, lack of qualified and skilled workforce, the overall objective of the project is to improve the competitiveness of the tourism industry through the development of sustainable tourism practices and the development of a quality hospitality management training program focusing on three specific outputs as follows:

Output 1: Support tourism companies and business support organizations to improve their competitiveness and efficiency through the development of tourism products that apply sustainable tourism principles.

Output 2: Support for national capacity building through the development of skills (1) sustainable tourism training and (2) hospitality management training program

Output 3: Facilitate the integration of sustainable tourism practices into framework conditions to facilitate the development of sustainable and competitive tourism.

Once implemented, the project is expected to address market constraints that restrict the competitiveness of tourism companies / small and medium-sized enterprises and service providers entering the tourism industry and related value chains. Sustainability and efficiency will be central focus, ensuring that models can be replicated by market factors.

In the role of consulting firm for this project, with proven experience through a number of other tourism projects funded by other donors such as the EU, ADB, etc. AMDI reaffirmed their position and brand name in mplementation and management of ODA projects in tourism and sustainable development in Vietnam./.
