AMDI INSTITUTE COOPERATES WITH ARMAC TO IMPLEMENT RESEARCH “COMMUNITY PERSPECTIVES TOWARD HUMANITARIAN MINE ACTION IN VIETNAM”

On March 29, 2024, the Asian Management and Development Institute (AMDI) and the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center (ARMAC) signed a Contract to implement a research on “Community perspectives on humanitarian mine action in Vietnam" within the framework of the activity "Enhance Victim Assistance Program in the ASEAN Member States". The research will be implemented for 4 months in Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces from April to August 2024.

The objective of the research is to examine the roles of communities involved in prioritizing land clearance, explosive ordnance risk education, victim assistance, and residual management. In addition, the study also explores the needs and rights of communities affacted by explosive ordnance, particularly survivors and their dependants  through mine action intervention. The research applies a participatory approach to understand and design intervention activities through promoting greater participation of communities and local authorities in mine action in future.

AMDI had conducted a final evaluation of UNDP on " data collection for the End-line knowledge attitude and practice survey on explore ordnance risk education in Quang Binh in 2021”, which is also an advantage to support AMDI effectively in implementation of this research.

This new research activity is part of AMDI's orientation for developing international research and cooperation activities in 2024 and affirms the trust of international partners to AMDI.
